Register for Classes
Registration Checklist
- Apply for financial aid (Pell Grant,
scholarships, etc.). Meet with the financial aid adviser in Student Services.
- Submit the Admission Application
if you are a new student or a returning student who has not enrolled in a class
for one full semester.
- Send for official transcripts of high school/GED scores and all colleges attended
prior to enrolling at NMSU.
- Go to the Student Success Center to take the computerized
COMPASS Test. You will be tested for placement in English and Mathematics course work.
NOTE: You may not enroll in college General Education classes, that is, classes that
have a course number ending in "G" without having completed ENGL 111G.
- Attend a New Student Orientation if it is your
first semester at NMSU Grants.
- Register for classes EARLY. Some classes fill up
very quickly. Make an appointment to see an adviser in Student Services.
- Pay at least a 10% deposit on your classes in the Business Office.
- Obtain your student ID in the Student Success Center (SSC).
The times for getting a student ID are generally posted on the door of the SSC.
- Purchase books on the first day of classes. Be sure to check the list of released
books prior to making your purchase. The campus Bookstore
is located adjacent to the Library.
- Always feel free to ask questions of the staff if you are
unsure of anything. They are glad to help!
